Since the beginning of 2024, most of my work has been ghostwriting. So that means NDAs and not much to share. This is my new home for mini-monthly updates from Fables.

Not once, but twice, the wise editorial team at Freelancer Magazine decided to let me loose in their pages.
First off, I was talking about LinkedIn and not getting burned out. I'm still working on that one.
I also shared 'There's Something Going on in Kent', a group for freelancers and independents in Kent. If you're local, drop me an email and I'll add you to the chat.
Writing for yourself is one of the most cringe-inducing activities known to god and man. But with the quardruple whammy of gen-AI, the Iran War, the upcoming recession and global uncertainty decimating markets, budgets are shrinking, approval times are increasing, and there's more freelancers fighting over a shrinking pool of work.

A new client! Although I can't share the name, I'm writing about classical music and teaching. Did you know I'm a not-terribly great clarinet and sax player, and Glyndebounre is one of my favourite days out?
When I file this copy I have one slot free. If your website is causing more blushes than bookings, book a call.
(Clearly this image isn't work, but I can't name the client, and I love the pic, via friend Clara xxx)

On 15th March, ITV News interviewed me about the impact of MTD ITSA for the self-employed. I'm a proud tax-payer and believer in the state. I also I wish HMRC paid more attention to Amazon, Google, Meta and their ilk, than bully-boying small business owners.
Sadly I didn't make the cut, but I did get my copy in the can in one take.
Do you think you need new copy? Are your words so lumpy that you cringe when you share your site with a lead? Is your site creating more blushes than business?
If you're starting to shudder when someone asks to see your site, take the Fables test, and learn what you might need to do next.

Life-goal achieved! Dr. Mariachiarra Restuccia invited me to lecture her second-year undergrads on the business-case for Tone of Voice work.
In the days after, students dropped into my DMs. Helping young people understand the importance of voice and words was a privilege. Next lecture? One for teachers!
